Summer weekends...

I can't believe it's already Thursday and another weekend is fast approaching.  Last week was lazy since Katelyn was recovering from a cold she caught over the other weekend. This week we went to the movies to watch "The Other Guys" and had a couple of play dates with her friend Nilene.

Two weekends ago was amazing since our family was celebrating two joyous occasions, me and my hubby's marriage blessing and our little girl's First Communion.

After all the time for preparing for the events, the celebrations passed so quickly, but it was amazing to have all the friends and family together. We had relatives down from Texas too! For some it was their first time meeting our little girl.

Last weekend my brother hitched a ride with a friend and came up for a visit. Friday, Hubby went out for a boys night and I was able to hang out with my bro and catch up. Saturday morning we went down to the Farmer's Market, to snack on fresh baked goods, listen to live music and buy some fresh produce.

This is what we came home with, except the cherry strudel that we finished off before I had a chance to take a picture.
I love fresh herbs. The next day I made a basil pesto made with walnuts (since I didn't have pine nuts on hand), roasted the wax beans and orange cauliflower, and baked tilapia which I marinated with some of the pesto with teriyaki and miri. I boiled up some corn pasta and added the pesto. It was a yummy lunch!

I can't believe it's already August, and that the next season is coming soon. I already feel the nights getting cooler. So for now, all we can do is enjoy the weekends that we have left in the summer. We are trying to plan a day trip for this Saturday and a picnic in the park on Sunday. Can't wait for the weekend ;)

I love going to Farmer's Market. Which one do you go to?

I tried using Smilebox the other day but it didn't work with what I was trying to do (my bangs and shoe post) but I think Smilebox worked great for this post. I will have to try it another time.
