Katelyn's First Day

I can't believe I am writing this a year later, but today was Katelyn's first day at DayCare.

Where has the past year gone? It's been a little crazy in our household with preparation for her birthday parties, finishing up another course at school and searching for daycares. Yesterday it all came together and fell into place. I had found a daycare that I felt comfortable with and I wanted her to start the next day to give her some time for adjustment before I start next week. Me and her were also able to meet up with her friend H and her mommy before they leave for the weekend for their weeklong vacay. So it was great to spend some girl time and celebrate that I actually found a day care. And I also was able to find a co-op placement that I needed for school to complete the program. It's actually a company that I have been looking at some time and I will be helping her out at the The Baby Time Show this weekend. I love what she does and I hope to have set up a company similar to what she is doing and making it available for mommies in my area. She provides cooking workshops, one on one consultations and family meal plans. So it is all coming together. So it will be a busy weekend with the Show, Kate's swimming, Portrait Studio appointment (of course, I need 1 year photos), a BBQ and the MS Walk but it will be the last one before I get back to work.

I just dropped off our baby girl for her first day. She wasn't too happy since she had fallen asleep on the way to the day care. You can see in the picture she wasn't impressed that she had to pose again. But she did wave bye to me. Driving away I just couldn't believe it. And when I arrived at home all I could think of is that the house will be ... quiet?! The funny thing, the song "Enjoy the Silence" by Depeche Mode started up on the radio. Funny, right? Well, I intend on taking a nap since the last couple of nights I have been staying up to finish up a final assignment for school. Hopefully I'll be able to relax and do it :)

My Pals Scout and Violet

Hopefully her friend Violet will keep her calm and safe! :)

Will keep you all posted and send out more pictures soon!

What made me smile this month ... (March)

Katelyn finally figuring out how to move around more by crawling and not just shuffling her bum :)

Making cupcakes with mocha frosting!

Receiving dried mangoes and tagalog baby books from the Philippines.

Katelyn spending lots of time with her Lolo and Lola.

Going back to school for my final courses before finishing up my diploma. And my first assignment, putting my five year goals after graduation on a display board aka "My vision board".

Katelyn signing "more", "milk" and "octopus". Trying chicken for the first time and loving it. She also tried grapes and pineapple this month!

Hanging out with one of my girls and her beautiful girl and boy. Our crazy trip to the overcrowded grocery store. I can't wait to meet the addition to her family!

Another play date with "S&H". You can never spend too much time at the mall :)

Hubby being excited that he cleaned up the garage and was able to fit his truck into it.....too bad he wasn't able to open the doors :)

News of one of my dear friends getting engaged...that's right engaged. Now where will the wedding be?? UK, Canada or Australia??

Seeing my bestie and the rest of her family. It was great hanging out and reminded me how much I miss her and wished she lived in the same city :)

Katelyn spending more time with her Lolo and Lola. Haha. They came up for another visit. They can't get enough of their one and only grandchild.

Easter is coming!

Update

It has been some time since I've posted. I have been busy caring for my hubby and baby who both seem to keep catching a cold, getting a few visitors (which is always fun), attending workshops at the Ontario Early Years Centre, planning her first birthday party, going back to school to finish up the last of my classes and of course, some baking (made my first batch of cake pops), sprouting (yea! since I wasn't able to during my pregnancy) and day care searching.

I had spoken with my boss last week and the date for my return to work has been set. Where did the year go??

Well, lots has been going on with Katelyn as well, her two top teeth have poked through her gums but are not fully exposed yet :) She has been moving around alot more and is repeating words and actions all the time. And she has been trying out some new foods too! Most recently was mangoes, papaya, pineapple, goat's milk and mung beans.  She wasn't a fan of the papayas and spat them right out. And pineapples, I think there was too much fibre when I gave some chunks to her. But she loved it pureed. As for mangoes, they have to be real ripe and she'll gobble them up!
The past couple of days I' ve been stocking up the freezer with food for Katelyn, she is eating more of our foods and it is helping us eat clean. But just to have more of her foods on hand, I made up some Red Lentil and Sweet Potato Soup, Roasted Cauliflower, Mashed Potatoes, Sweet Potatoes and her congee with brown and white rice and mung beans.
And I can't believe the weekend has come and went. We spent most our time outside of the house and did some shopping on Saturday. Got a new lunch bag and toy for Katelyn.

And Sunday we hit the One of the Kind Show in Toronto. Definitely lots to see but unfortunately not enough money to shop! :)

Had a great time though catching up with N. and we got some yummy treats from Kiwi Land from her last visit.

Hope you all had a great weekend and Happy Monday!

Fill in the Blank Friday

Wow, it's been awhile since I've blogged. I've been busy and I'll catch you all up with what I have been doing. But first things first.....Fill in the Blank Friday... on a Saturday afternoon.

1.   The best prank I ever pulled was       can't say I ever pulled one off. If you know me, I am the worst liar...ever!

2.  The best prank ever pulled on me was    when a friend called and said he was going to quit his job and become a professional dancer. LOL. I don't remember if I really fell for that one, but you never know.

3.  A day without     good food and love     is a day wasted.

4.  The most important things in life are     I would have to agree and it's the people you love. Friends and family! The other stuff pales in comparison.

5.  I dream of     not having to worry about money, and be only concerned with where I want to travel next and what new thing can I show my daughter. And of course, have my own successful wellness clinic!

6.  I dread       going back to work. I have less than three weeks and it really is starting to hit me. Sometimes I can't help the urge to give Katelyn a super long hug. I won't be able to do that at work :(  But on the brighter note, she will be able to play with children her on age and interact with them....and so will I :)

7.  A discovery I made this week was       that I am still a procrastinator. Obviously not a new discovery, but somehow I will have to work on it.

Well that's it for now folks! Hope you are all enjoying the beautiful sunny day. Katelyn and I were outside for a walk yesterday. Spring is definitely here!
